A Simple Guide to Prayer

Prayer is simple. It’s a conversation with God. But if you don’t know where to start, here’s a helpful guide Jesus gave us, also known as The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13). This prayer is an invitation to connect with your Heavenly Father in a way that will transform your life and the world around you.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. (Matthew 6:9)
We can come to God boldly and with confidence because we’ve been adopted as His children, with all the privileges that come with it. Thank Him for the blood of Jesus shed on the cross that makes you His child.

Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. (Matthew 6:10)
Pray for God’s will and purposes to be done in your relationships, your work, your church, your nation, and the world. Also, choose three people you can pray for throughout today.

Give us this day our daily bread. (Matthew 6:11)
Acknowledge that God is the source of all our provision and ask Him to meet your immediate and future needs.

And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. (Matthew 6:12)
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you any sins you may have committed, and then ask God to forgive you. Also, talk to the Lord about those who have sinned against you or wounded you and release each on in forgiveness.

And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. (Matthew 6:13)
Ask God for His strength to win the spiritual battles over sin, temptation, and lies from the enemy.

For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen! (Matthew 6:13)
Thank God and give Him praise for being such a good Father, for caring for you and for listening to your prayers.
